Have Fun & Stay Fit with Yoga SUP Classes on Lake Norman
Our friendly and experienced Paddleboard Yoga teachers are local to the Lake Norman area and some of the best on a paddleboard. Each class is held in our waterfront cove where the wake won't knock you off time and time again while on the water. Yoga classes have anchors for your paddleboards to keep everyone from floating into each other whether working on their downward dog or flowing through a fun sun salutation.
PaddleFit is a brand of fitness classes designed with boarders in mind. PaddleFit is Founded by Brody Welte, discover more information on his website for PaddleFit.
After a life changing job on the island of Kaua’i, Brody Welte -founder of PaddleFit - combined his love for the outdoors, fitness and Stand Up Paddleboarding and created Stand Up Fitness. Stand Up Fitness was a retail, lesson and fitness business serving the Tampa Bay area. Stand Up Fitness achieved a lot of success, but Brody realized that his calling was introducing people to SUP and getting them on a fun and healthy path.
Paddling alone is a killer workout, but what Brody found is when you combine paddling, progressive technique, on-land exercises and a healthy dose of consistency, the results were amazing (and his clients were having a blast). From this process PaddleFit was born. PaddleFit will be rolling out certified Affiliates throughout the US and will continue to develop programming that will push you to achieve your desired goals. All while maintaining a level of fun that makes PaddleFit a part of your lifestyle and not just something you do a few days a week.
1. IT'S FUN It's well known that novelty is important in exercise regimens in order to stay motivated and happy. According to the National Institute of Health (US), "Mixing it up also helps to reduce boredom and cut your risk of injury." There are many different types of yoga, but it's still easy to fall into a rut. Trying paddleboard yoga will keep you on your toes.
2. IT'S HEALTHY You'll be more in tune with your poses. Since the platform is unstable, you have to engage your core more for better balance. L.A.-based yoga instructor Dice lida-Klein told Men's Fitness that the workout is more challenging. "Your whole midsection will have to work to keep you balanced and afloat. You have to work harder and focus more on the water."
3. IT'S BEAUTIFUL Between breathing fresh air, soaking up vitamin D and enjoying the natural landscape, it beats just about any gym or studio out there. "Yoga means 'union,'" Hilary Kimblin, owner of Yoga Under the Trees in Beverley Hills, CA, told Yoga Journal. "When it's practiced outdoors it seems like the union with nature, humanity, and the universe is truly felt."
4. IT CALMS & HELPS YOUR BREATH Ocean Breath, is a popular yoga method for breathing because the "ocean" sound is believed to soothe your mind. Some researchers believe that listening to the sound of the ocean can help people to relax. The gentle sound of water lapping while on a paddleboard will help you relax and key you in to the most important aspect of yoga: your breath. The Aloha Breath is a practice of being present in life.... “Alo” means Present and “Ha” means Breath of Life.
